Gala ApplesGala apples have been around since the 1930's and originated as a cross between the Golden Delicious and Kidd's Orange Red varieties.

Over the years, a number of "sports" have popped up all over the world.  In general, Gala apples are small.  The skin is usually red with part of it being green to green-yellow vertically striped.  Gala apples have a thinner skin than most but are quite resistant to bruising.  The inside is sweet and a little grainy yet crisp.  Gala apples are a great all purpose apple for baking, cooking and eating.
